Overview

This position is temporary and expected to last until January/February 2018. 

 

Under the direction of the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, this position is responsible for preparing and shipping/receiving product using defined packaging standards.

Responsibilities

  • Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be shipped.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, and/or convey orders to packing station or shipping department, ensuring conformance to requirements.
  • Record amounts of materials or items being packaged.
  • Verify items packed with customer's order and other identifying data.
  • Verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Post weights and shipping charges, affixes shipping labels on packed cartons.
  • Opens boxes, crates and other containers.
  • Use hand truck, fork-lift, &/or pallet jack to move products from warehouse or staging locations to shipping area.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, color, or product code.
  • Use computer and/or record logs for shipment manifesting.
  • Perform high quality work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform packaging and/or verification of product by following written and/or verbal instruction or documentation.
  • Assist in the daily cycle count to assure warehouse integrity, including annual inventory.
  • Receive daily UPS, FedEx and other incoming shipments.
  • Sort returned parts as needed.
  • Pick warranty orders to be shipped.
  • Participate in the daily clean-up of area.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum of one year shipping and warehouse experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Windows) and ability to use Internet Explorer
  • Basic math skills; precise/accurate counting skills.
  • Experience using FedEx and UPS shipping systems a plus.
  • Must possess a sense of urgency.
  • Must be self motivated with ability to use own initiative.
  • Ability to be a team player in a hectic, fast paced environment.
  • Flexibility to change gears with little notice.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Organizational and analytical skills.
  • Good attendance record; reliable and punctual.
